"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11;28-30

Discovery Room
About
Next to the nursery is the Discovery Room. This is where shining little eyes, curious little noses, and little wagging tails get to explore and learn through different skill building, mentally stimulating activities.
Discovery Room
As the pups grow, between weeks 4-8, we do various Sensory Development Sessions with the puppies. This helps them develop confidence, curiosity, interest in life and the world around them, and prepares them mentally and emotionally for starting out in their exciting adventures with their new families.
A few of these Developmental Sessions include Sound Desensitizing Sessions, Snuffle Matt/Food Puzzle Sessions, Skill Building Sessions with tunnels, bridges, etc...
Families with reservations are kept up to date on the development and training of the pups in their litter. These developmental sessions are recorded and shared with families through the Litter Group Chat using the Signal App so they can watch their puppy from the time the pups enter their new world as helpless newborns until they are bright eyed, tail wagging 8 week old balls of fluff.

Crate & Potty Training
When the pups leave the whelping box between 3.5-4 weeks of age, they start into their second phase of Development Training.
Crate training starts by buddying up with a partner pup so they get used to the idea.
After a few days they transition to solo crate time with their snuggle toy, and work up to being happy in their crate for daily 2.5-3 hour morning and afternoon naps by the time they go home at 8 weeks.
After leaving their whelping box, the pups also learn to follow mom outside for potty business. Most litters are doing all their potty stuff out in their run by the time they go home.
In the Discovery Room, they have a potty patch where they learn that there is still a designated place to go when they can't go outside.
If families are consistent, and build on what the pups have learned, house training is much easier.
Temperament Testing
At 7 weeks of age we do temperament testing with the pups. This is very important if a family is looking for a puppy with service dog potential.
It is also helpful in guiding families in choosing a puppy that is a good fit for them as a family pet, a good fit for their lifestyle and/or for their living space.
Whether the family is an active, outdoorsy type, a family with young children, or a retired, ready to relax family, temperament testing can give a good indication of which pup would do best with them.
Always remember, these traits are natural traits they portray as a very young pup. Who and what they become depends so very much on the love, nurturing, and training that is invested in the puppy.
We place a lot of trust in our families to take seriously their responsibility of raising and training these puppies properly so they can thrive and become the blessing God created them to be.

Meeting The Pups
After the Temperament Testing Videos have been shared, families come out in order of reservation to meet the puppies and choose their pup.
We work with the families, giving guidance and suggestions for the pup who may be the best fit.
We love watching the special connections happening between the families and their new pup.
When pups have gone home, the Signal Group Chat remains open for families to share photos, videos, questions, tips, resources, highlights, and to support one another in the raising/training journey.
We stay in the loop to provide guidance and answer questions, and we thoroughly enjoy following along, watching the babies grow up with their new families, and loving all the fun and adventure in their new world.
Ongoing Training & Socializing
Sometimes we have pups stay beyond the initial 8 weeks.
We have families that request extended board and train, and we enjoy taking the little ones into the K1 phase of learning and discovery.
This phase includes increased crate time, night time crate training, training in basic commands, and socialization outings.
If this is of interest, please check in for details on extended Board & Train for your pup past 8 weeks.
