"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." James 14:7

The Nursery
About
Research shows that puppies should be raised by and interact with their mothers for at least their first eight weeks. This is important in their emotional and social development, giving them foundational training no one can provide better than their mother.

Responsible Breeding
It takes time, focused attention, investment in veterinary care, investment in proper equipment and supplies, and careful planning in order to breed responsibly.
We are equipped for inhouse progesterone testing, artificial insemination when necessary, pregnancy testing, and newborn puppy care.
Our adults are all Pennhip and OFA certified, and genetically tested. They are kept up to date with annual vet checks and vaccinations.
Litters are planned carefully, making sure the dam and sire are compatible genetically.
We plan our litters and take reservations in advance in order to breed responsibly, knowing the babies have loving families awaiting them.
Puppies are always welcome back if families are no longer able to care for them due to sickness or other unforeseen circumstances life can bring.
Mother's Rooms
We have a separate nursery for our moms and their pups. The nursery is insulated, heated, has 24hr surveillance, and is equipped with neonatal puppy care equipment and supplies.
The camera system is very helpful in keeping an eye on mamas and their pups before and after delivery. Closer to the time of delivery, we can check on mamas regularly throughout the day/night if we aren't in the nursery so we know if she is needing us.
We tend each delivery, allowing mamas to follow their instinctive ability to deliver and care for their newborn pups, but always ready to assist if she or a puppy needs help.
Each mom has her own indoor room with outdoor access where she can nurture and raise her pups. The outdoor run aids in teaching the pups that potty business is all done out of doors.

Expectant Mothers
Our expectant moms are on Prenatal Vitamins called Oxy Mate throughout their pregnancy, and switch to Oxy Mama, a Nursing and Recovery supplement throughout the weeks of nursing and caring for their young.
In addition, they continue with the daily hip/joint supplements and probiotics to keep them in optimal health.
Mama & Baby Care
When mamas have rested after the delivery, a warm, refreshing shower is in order.
Initially, mamas keep their babies clean, but as they grow older, and they bumble around, cozy baths are welcome.
Puppies are weighed daily the first week, and then weekly from week 2-8 to be sure they are gaining as they should be.
Sharp little nails can be painful on mama when the babies nurse, so regular nail clipping is important.
Deworming both mama and babies at regular intervals, and keeping them on probiotics helps keep everyone in great health.

Puppy Imprinting Program
Research has shown that puppies who receive early stimulation and socialization in the all important first days and weeks are much better able to handle stress & change, are more resistant to disease, and are eager and receptive to learning new things.
Our puppy protocol includes ESI (Early Scent Stimulation), ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation), and Whelping Box Novelty Sessions where pups are introduced to different textures, objects, and sounds.
Veterinary & Grooming Care
We are blessed with the excellent care of the veterinary team at Belmont Veterinary Services.
The team is compassionate, thoughtful, and thorough in their care.
We are very grateful for their support and guidance.
Oxford Veterinary Clinic, Oak West Animal Clinic, and London Regional Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital have provided specialized care and testing.
Another great asset to our program is Britt's Grooming in Dorchester.
Sarah, Haiden, and their staff are wonderful with our dogs. The dogs are relaxed and happy with them, and come home looking and feeling so refreshed.
